                Draw the following shapes on a sheet of paper and cut them out along the boundary.

                Fold each figure along the dotted line. What do you see?

                Here, you can see that the two parts lie exactly one above the other as shown below.

                Now, cut out a half part of each shape.
                Place each part on the table and then place a mirror along the dotted line.

                What do you observe by looking in the mirror?
                Clearly, the figure outside and its image inside the mirror are the same and the two
                together form the complete shape we had made before.

                Such figures  which can be  divided  into  two  exactly  identical  parts  are said  to  be

                Symmetrical about the dividing line. The dividing line is called the Line of symmetry.
